Health and Justice Ministries

Health Ministry Team
The Health Ministries team is actively involved in making the health of the congregation and community a top priority! The HM team:
  • Offers informative workshops targeting specific health issues like aging, being a caregiver and other important health-related issues to the congregation and community.
  • Visits members of the congregation that can’t get to church or who are ill at home or in hospital.
  • Partners with other health-related organizations like the MS Society in Hamilton to raise awareness about health issues and community programs.
  • Encourages people to make health a priority.
  • Helps families at Christmas by collecting and donating children’s toys.
Justice Team
Programs to promote peace and justice within our community and throughout the world are supported by the Justice Team.
Community and Global Partners
Working as a team with our community partners is key to the success of our programs:
  • Transfiguration Lutheran: we make “baby kits” including nightgowns, diapers, receiving blankets and knitted sweaters for Lutheran World Service to be distributed to those in need.
  • Neighbour to Neighbour: we collect food donations and fill backpacks with school supplies.
  • Eva Rothwell Centre: we donate gently used clothing, books, bedding, new backpacks, and children’s mittens, scarves and hats from our “Mitten Tree” (we hang children’s mitts, hats and scarves on our artificial evergreen tree at the front of the church).
  • Mission Services: we donate backpacks and children’s mitts, hats and scarves from the Mitten Tree.
KAIROS unites Canadian churches and as a group works together advocating for social change. The Presbyterian Church in Canada supports the work of KAIROS. The Hamilton Burlington KAIROS planning group met monthly over the past year at South Gate to discuss and plan Justice and Peace activities for our area. For more information about KAIROS click here.
